Justice BS Walia transfer to parent High Court

Justice Bawa Singh Walia presently a Judge of J&K High Court transferred to Punjab & Haryan High Court which is his parent High Court.
According to the notification issued by Law Ministry of India in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of article 222 of the Constitution of India, read with article 222 (1A) of the Constitution in its application to Jammu & Kashmir, the President, after consultation with the Governor of Jammu & Kashmir and the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Shri Justice Bawa Singh Walia, Judge, Jammu & Kashmir High Court, as a Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and to direct him to assume charge of his office in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on or before 13th October, 2017.
Justice BS Walia born on August 28, 1961 in Jalandhar, Punjab, His Lordship did ICSE from St. John's High School, Chandigarh in 1978, Bachelor of Arts from D.A.V. College, Chandigarh in 1982, LL.B. from the Panjab University in 1985 besides stood 1st Class 1st in Bachelor of Law in 1984 for which he was awarded Rai Bahadur Badri Dass Medal as well as Vice - Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship. His Lordship taught Law at the Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh as a visiting part-time faculty from 1990 - 96. His Lordship was enrolled as a member of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana in 1985 and practised in divergent fields of law. His Lordship remained Legal Advisor to the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation Limited, Electronic Systems Punjab Limited, Punjab Information and Communication Technology Corporation Ltd., besides conducted cases on behalf of the Hon'ble High Court of Punjab and Haryana, Food Corporation of India and other organizations. His Lordship was Senior Panel Counsel, Government of India for the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh besides Additional Advocate General, Punjab w.e.f. November 1, 2012, till elevation as Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on September 25, 2014. His Lordship on transfer took oath as Additional Judge of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on 12.02.2015 and took oath as Premenant Judge on May 23, 2016.
